Sarah Bireete: A Ugandan Advocate for Human Rights
Sarah Bireete is a Ugandan lawyer, human rights defender, and the Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG). She has dedicated her career to advancing human rights in her home country.
Defending Human Rights in Uganda
Sarah is the founder of the Good Morning Uganda social media channel, where she reaches an audience of around 20,000 followers. Through her platform, she advocates for international companies to adhere to Ugandan and international laws. She has witnessed firsthand the exploitation of marginalized communities, including women working on flower farms without adequate protection from pesticides.
Challenges in the Oil Sector
Sarah has also raised concerns about human rights violations in the oil sector, where transnational corporations often disregard land rights, environmental protection, and workers' rights.
