Early Life and Career

Saúl Ñíguez Esclápez was born on November 21, 1994, in Elche, Spain. His father, José Antonio, was a professional footballer who played as a forward for Elche. Saúl's older brothers, Jony and Aarón, are also footballers.

Saúl began his youth career with Real Madrid's academy at the age of 11. In 2011, he joined Atlético Madrid's youth system and made his debut for the reserve team in April of that year.

Atlético Madrid Debut

Saúl's first appearance for Atlético Madrid's first team came in March 2012 in a Europa League match against Beşiktaş. He made his La Liga debut in September 2012 against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Loan to Rayo Vallecano

In July 2013, Saúl was loaned to Rayo Vallecano for one season. He made 31 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Atlético Madrid and International Success

Upon returning to Atlético Madrid in 2014, Saúl became a regular starter in midfield. He has been a key player in the team's successes, including winning the Europa League in 2018 and the La Liga title in 2021.

Saúl has also represented Spain at various youth levels and was part of the team that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2012. He made his senior international debut in 2016 and has since earned over 40 caps.

Personal Life

Saúl's father, José Antonio, played professional football for Elche and other clubs. His older brothers, Jony and Aarón, are also professional footballers. Saúl is in a relationship with the Spanish singer and actress Yaiza Gras.
