Shawn Carlow, Australian Figure Skater

Shawn Carlow is an Australian figure skater who competes in the men's singles category. He is a three-time Australian national champion and comes from a family of figure skaters. Both his mother and father and his uncle were figure skaters.

Early Life and Skating Career

Carlow's mother, Elizabeth Kane, who is also his coach, introduced him to skating at the age of two. Kane competed in pairs skating, and Carlow initially followed suit, skating with partner Vafa Asmar. He landed his first triple jump, a toe loop, at the age of 12. However, it wasn't until he was 14 that he mastered the triple axel, a jump he admits he still only lands successfully half the time.

Training and Competition

Carlow resides in Sydney, where he trains with his mother. Despite his success as a three-time national champion, Carlow has not achieved significant success at the international level. His best result was a 12th-place finish at the 2006 Four Continents Championships.

Challenges and Future Goals

Despite his struggles at the world stage, Carlow remains dedicated to his sport. He continues to train diligently with his mother and hopes to improve his performance at future international competitions.
