Sebastian Komor: A Multifaceted Artist in the Electronic Music Realm
Early Life and Artistic InfluencesSebastian Komor, born in the vibrant city of Oslo, Norway, has always been drawn to the expressive worlds of music and visual arts. Moving to Fredrikstad in 1981, he found a creative haven where he could nurture his passions. From the surrealism of Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso to the evocative illustrations of Dave McKean, Komor's artistic sensibility was shaped by a diverse range of masters.
Musical Beginnings
In 1989, Komor's musical journey officially began with the release of his first recordings. One of his early projects, LV-426 (later renamed Sector9), brought him into contact with Andy LaPlagua, the future frontman of Icon of Coil. Together, they collaborated on the project, culminating in the hit single "Shallow Nation."
Collaboration and Success
Komor's versatility extended beyond Sector9. He joined forces with Stephan Groth of Apoptygma Berzerk, co-writing the iconic track "Starsign." As a member of Icon of Coil, he created numerous remixes for renowned bands such as VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, and Mesh. Komor also produced the debut album, "Elements of Truth," for the electronic/synthpop group Spektralized.
Moonitor and Other Projects
In recent years, Komor has dedicated his efforts to his solo project, Moonitor (formerly Sector9). He also plays an active role in Bruderschaft, notably contributing to their hit "Forever." Collaborating with his wife, Renee Cooper-Komor, he launched the groundbreaking project Zombie Girl in 2006, releasing the EP "Back From the Dead" and the album "Blood, Brains and Rock 'N' Roll" in 2007.
Komor Kommando and Ongoing Endeavors
2009 witnessed the birth of Komor Kommando, a project that showcased his versatility with the release of the EP "Das EP." The debut album "Where Flesh Meets Metal" followed shortly after in 2010. Komor's tireless creative spirit continues to fuel new projects, including the second EP from Zombie Girl in 2009.
