A Country House to Escape the Hustle
When we had the opportunity to meet with Sergey Babaev at his country house, he warmly welcomed us into his home. Babaev expressed his gratitude to his wife for taking on the challenging task of raising their children without the help of nannies or grandparents. In his opinion, no one knows and understands their children better than their mother.
The country house has become a sanctuary for Babaev, a place where he can escape from the hectic demands of work. He believes that after long hours of work, it is essential to immerse oneself in a different world, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The decision to purchase the house was influenced by Babaev's mother-in-law, and he is forever grateful for her suggestion.
Babaev takes great pride in working on the house himself, such as installing the plumbing. However, he admits that they had to seek professional help for the construction of the house, resulting in six cozy and comfortable rooms.
A Love Story with a Colleague
Babaev's relationship with his wife, Irina, began as a professional connection. They both worked together at NTV, with him as an assistant director and her as a secretary. Despite their age difference, Babaev knew from the start that Irina was his destiny. It took two years of courtship before she finally agreed to be with him. They have now been happily married for thirteen years and have never had a major argument.
Even during their early days of marriage when they lived modestly, Babaev praises his wife for her calmness and patience. He firmly believes that respect and love are the foundations of a successful marriage, which may transform over time but should never waver. Babaev has remained faithful to his wife, acknowledging the beauty of other women but never allowing it to go beyond a passing glance.
A Small but Cherished Family
Three years into their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child, Nikita, followed by their daughter, Lisa, six years later. Despite having a sister with three children, Sergey and Irina have decided to limit their family to two children. They acknowledge the immense effort and dedication required to raise children and have taken on the responsibility themselves, without the assistance of grandparents or nannies. They firmly believe that no one knows and understands their children better than they do.
Television Today and the Charisma of Imperfections
Reflecting on the changes in television, Babaev believes that today's television is far more engaging and captivating than it was thirty years ago. Although there may be criticisms about the incompetence of some presenters, Babaev sees the charm in their imperfections. The small mistakes and unscripted moments create a more authentic and relatable experience for viewers.
Interestingly, Babaev points out the attention given to the attire of news presenters. They are provided with funds for shirts and ties, as they are the visible elements on screen. He recalls a former colleague who would wear worn-out sneakers and jeans off-camera, while maintaining a professional appearance on top.

He cherishes his family life and finds solace in his country house, away from the demands of his career.
