Early Career
VересIn 1992, Vitaliy Dolhanskiy made his professional debut with Vереs, appearing in two games in the Ukrainian First League. The team's successful campaign earned them promotion to the top flight.
National League Debut
On August 16, 1992, Dolhanskiy made his Ukrainian Premier League debut in Vереs' 1-1 draw against Karpaty Lviv.
Transfer to Metalist and Cherno Morets
In 1993, he joined Metalist Kharkiv, but faced limited playing time. He returned to Vереs after a year and a half. In 1995, Dolhanskiy moved to Cherno Morets Odesa, where he became the regular goalkeeper for three and a half seasons.
Brief Stints at Kryvbas, CSKA Kyiv, and Shakhtar Donetsk
In 1999, he briefly joined Kryvbas but only played for the reserve team. In 2000, Dolhanskiy transferred to CSKA Kyiv, where he also played for the second team. In 2002, he had an unsuccessful spell at Shakhtar Donetsk, making only two appearances for the reserve team.
Permanent Home at Vorskla Poltava
In 2001, Dolhanskiy joined Vorskla Poltava, where he quickly established himself as the starting goalkeeper. His tenure at Vorskla was interrupted by two periods: a loan to Metalurh Donetsk in 2004 and a short stint with Shakhtar in 2002. However, he always returned to Vorskla and became a key player.
Contract Renewal and Retirement
In 2010, at the age of 35, Dolhanskiy signed a one-year extension with Vorskla. His contract was further extended, and the club became his final professional destination. He retired from football in the summer of 2013, at the age of 38.
International Career
Dolhanskiy represented Ukraine's Under-21 team, making six appearances between 1993 and 1995.
