Sergey Koridze: A Futsal Legend
Early Life and Career in Traditional FootballSergey Koridze began his football journey as a defender for the youth team of Chernoomorets Odessa. He briefly played for the reserve team of Chernoomorets and spent a season with Anzhi Makhachkala before making the transition to futsal in 1995.
Success in Ukrainian Futsal
Koridze proved to be a prolific scorer in futsal, joining Lokomotiv Odessa and helping them win three Ukrainian championships and two Ukrainian Cups. He later joined Interkas Kyiv, where he added two more national titles and a cup victory to his resume. He was named the Ukrainian league's top scorer on three occasions.
Stardom with Moscow's Dina
In 2003, Koridze moved to Moscow and joined Dina. He quickly became a key player for the team and emerged as the league's top scorer in the 2003-2004 season. Dina challenged for the championship that year, ultimately finishing as runners-up.
Career Continuation and Achievements
Koridze spent a year with Spartak-Shchyolkovo before winning the Russian Cup in 2005. He then moved to TTG-Yugra and later joined the Moscow club KPFR.
International Career
As a member of the Ukrainian national futsal team, Koridze won two silver medals at the European Championships in 2001 and 2003. He was the tournament's top scorer both times.
Legacy
Throughout his career, Koridze has etched his name as one of the greatest goalscorers in Ukrainian futsal history. He is also a member of the "Konstantin Eremenko 250 Goalscorers Club."
