Birth and Early Life
Sergey Pyatkin was a Soviet and Ukrainian theater actor born on November 29, 1956, in Baku, Azerbaijan. His father, Grigory Pyatkin, was a military officer, and his mother, Valentina Pyatkin, was a homemaker. During his high school years, Sergey actively participated in the People's Theater in Baku.
Education and Career Beginnings
In 1974, Pyatkin enrolled in the Saratov Theater School in the acting department. Simultaneously, he initiated a correspondence with the renowned puppeteer Sergey Obraztsov. In 1978, during a Moscow Regional Puppet Theater tour in Baku, Pyatkin replaced an ill actor. Following the tour, he joined the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater named after Abdulla Shaig.
Recognition and Success
Pyatkin's exceptional talent was recognized early on, and he was named Baku's Best Young Actor in 1979. He subsequently became a two-time laureate of the Transcaucasian International Puppet Theater Festivals in Yerevan (1982) and Tbilisi (1984).
Ukraine and Artistic Pursuits
Due to ethnic conflicts in Baku, Pyatkin relocated to Ukraine in 1990, settling in Kirovohrad. He joined the Kirovohrad Regional Puppet Theater, where he not only performed but also wrote and directed the play "Dobrik and the Golden Apples" (1999). His creativity and compassion earned him the Ukrainian Fund of Goodness Award and a medal from the foundation.
Personal Life and Legacy
Sergey Pyatkin's wife was Margarita Pyatkina, and they had two children, Alexander Pyatkin and Maria Pyatkina. His life was tragically cut short on February 21, 2003, when he succumbed to pyelonephritis at the First City Hospital in Kirovohrad. Pyatkin was laid to rest in the Far Eastern Cemetery.
