Biography of Sergey Serebrennikov

Sergey Serebrennikov began his career as a midfielder and initially showed promise. However, he soon started to suffer from injuries, which resulted in him spending more time on the sidelines than on the field. This continued for almost two seasons until the 2005/2006 season, when he was loaned out to the mid-table team "Charleroi" from "Brugge".

Serebrennikov joined Dynamo Kyiv during the time of Lobanovsky. He, along with Yashkin and Gerasimenko, caught the attention of Kyiv scouts, and all three became naturalized Ukrainians while playing in Kyiv. However, their careers at Dynamo Kyiv did not go as planned, with injuries and competition hindering their progress. As a result, during the 2002/2003 season, Serebrennikov unexpectedly moved to the Belgian team "Brugge". It was unusual because, typically, all reserve players in Kyiv either remain in the second team for years or go on loan, but they rarely leave the club. However, Serebrennikov departed and joined one of the leaders of the Belgian championship.

His time at "Brugge" started well, but injuries began to plague him once again, and he found himself spending more time in treatment than on the pitch. This continued for almost two seasons until he was loaned out to a mid-table team in the "Charleroi" league during the 2005/2006 season. After his time at "Brugge," he gained valuable playing experience. In the summer, he transferred to another club from Brugge, "Cercle". While there were no opportunities for European competitions, he was able to maintain consistent playing time. However, injuries continued to plague him during his time there.

In the 2007/2008 season, he was joined by another Ukrainian, Oleg Yashchuk, who returned from the Greek club "Ergotelis" after spending ten years playing for another Belgian championship leader, "Anderlecht". Both players began the season as starters, and Serebrennikov even became the designated penalty taker. As a result, the club is currently in a European competition spot. Perhaps, in their twilight years, they will have the opportunity to play in the Champions League once again.
