Soviet Diplomat
Career in DiplomacyIn 1938-1939, the Soviet diplomat held the position of Head of the Department of Marxism-Leninism at the Industrial Academy. In 1939, he joined the system of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the USSR. From 1939 to September 7, 1940, he served as Counselor-Minister of the Embassy of the USSR in Turkey.
Ambassador to Turkey
On September 17, 1940, the diplomat was appointed Plenipotentiary Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to Turkey. He held this position until February 24, 1948.
Career at the Foreign Ministry
From February 1948 to 1949, the diplomat headed the Department for United Nations Affairs at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1949-1950, he became Head of the 1st European Department of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1950 to 1953, he chaired the Committee of Radio Broadcasting under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
Ambassador to France
From March to July 1953, the diplomat served as Head of the Main Administration of Television under the USSR Ministry of Culture. On July 7, 1953, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to France, a position he held until March 24, 1965.
Later Career and Recognition
From March 1965 to June 1967, the diplomat worked in the apparatus of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was a member of the Collegium of the Ministry. From August 29, 1967, to August 27, 1970, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to the United Arab Republic.
The diplomat was awarded the Order of Lenin (1945), four Orders of the Red Banner of Labor (including 1944), and various medals. He was also decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Legion of Honor (France, 1965).
He was a member of the Central Revision Commission of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1956-1966).
Diplomatic Rank
The diplomat held the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (June 14, 1943).
Legacy
The diplomat passed away from a prolonged illness and was interred at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.
