Sergo Kldiashvili
Early Life and Education
On October 18, 1893, Sergo Kldiashvili was born in the village of Simoneti in the Kutaisi Governorate (Imereti). His father, David Kldiashvili, was a writer. Sergo received his secondary education at the Kutaisi Gymnasium.
University and Literary Career
In 1917, Kldiashvili graduated from the Faculty of Law at Moscow University and returned to Georgia. He joined the "Blue Horns," a literary group of Georgian symbolists. His most notable works include the novella "Luna provincii," the novel "Ashes" (1932), the novel "Quiet Abode" (1958), and the plays "Generation of Heroes" (1937), "Deer Gorge" (1944), and "Return" (1952).
Later Years and Legacy
In 1945, Kldiashvili wrote a biography of his father. He passed away in 1986 and was buried in the Didube Pantheon in Tbilisi. Kldiashvili received numerous awards, including two Orders of the Badge of Honor. His writing continues to be celebrated for its rich imagery and exploration of Georgian history and culture.
