Serik Yeleuov, born on December 15, 1980, in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, is a renowned boxer who has made a significant mark in the sport.
Youth and Training
Yeleuov's boxing journey began in 1989 under the guidance of Vladimir Maslin. Later, he also trained under the tutelage of Kanat Galimtaev. His early achievements include winning the World Junior Championships in 1998 and securing a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in 1999.
National and International Success
Yeleuov's triumph as Kazakhstan's National Champion in 2003 solidified his prominence in the sport. He subsequently reached the finals of the Central Asian Games in Dushanbe. In 2004, his victory at the Licensing Competitions in Guangzhou earned him a spot at the Olympic Games in Athens.
During the Olympic tournament, Yeleuov showcased his skills, defeating opponents from the Dominican Republic and Italy. However, in the semi-finals, he succumbed to renowned British boxer Amir Khan, ultimately earning a prestigious bronze medal.
Post-Boxing Career
After retiring from his boxing career, Yeleuov dedicated his efforts to developing young athletes. He assumed the leadership role of the Karaganda Region's Children and Youth Olympic Reserve Sports School.
