Early Career and Olympic DebutShanieka Ricketts is a Jamaican track and field athlete who has made a name for herself in the triple jump event. Her first major breakthrough came at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she placed 14th with a jump of 14.02 meters.
International Success
In 2017, Ricketts finished eighth at the World Championships in London, jumping 14.13 meters. Two years later, she claimed a silver medal at the Pan American Games in Lima with a jump of 14.77 meters.
Pre-Olympic Breakthrough
In the lead-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Ricketts achieved her best jump of 14.92 meters at the World Championships in Doha. However, she once again finished behind Venezuelan athlete Yulimar Rojas, who captured the gold medal.
World Championships and Olympic Medalist
At the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Ricketts earned a bronze medal with a jump of 14.92 meters. She repeated this feat at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Additionally, Ricketts won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, her first Olympic podium finish.
