Early Life and Education
Armenian politician, public figure, and statesman from Soviet Armenia. From 1933 to 1937, he attended the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute named after Kh. Abovjan.
Military Service and Early Career
In 1937, he served in the Soviet Army for two years. After completing his military service, he was appointed as the director of a secondary school in Yerevan, where he worked until the outbreak of World War II.
World War II and Army Positions
On June 23, 1941, he was drafted into the Soviet Army again. He served as an officer and sustained an injury during the war.
Post-War Positions
From 1946 onward, he held various positions in the Armenian SSR, including head of the methodological department at the Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs, editor of the newspaper "Soviet School," and head of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Stalin District Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia.
Political Career
In 1949, he became secretary of the Stalin District Committee. From 1951 to 1954, he served as head of the Department of Schools within the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia.
Minister of Education
He held the position of Minister of Education of the Armenian SSR for an extended period from 1954 to 1973.
Academic Contributions
Despite his political responsibilities, he also worked as a lecturer at various institutions of higher education in Yerevan. He earned a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences degree and was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR.
Political Appointments
He served as a member of the Auditing Commission of the Communist Party of Armenia from 1952 to 1955. Subsequently, he became a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia from 1955 to 1964.
Awards and Recognitions
His contributions were recognized through the award of the Order of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, and various medals.
