Biography of Shavkat Yuldashov

Shavkat Mukhitdinovich Yuldashov, an Uzbek political figure, was born on September 20, 1943. He is a former chairman of the Supreme Council/Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. Yuldashov completed his secondary education in 1961 and worked as a fitter-repairman at the Namangan Spinning and Weaving Factory "Pyatiletka". From 1964 to 1969, he studied at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. He then worked as a senior engineer at the Research Institute of Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Starting in 1970, Yuldashov held various positions including workshop foreman, senior dispatcher, senior engineer-operator of the production association "Electroterm", and later became the head of production and chief engineer of the electromechanical workshops and the director of the enterprise "Namangansvet".

In 1973, Yuldashov joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). From 1974, he was involved in party work in Namangan, serving as an instructor, deputy head, head of the department of the Namangan obkom (regional committee) of the party, chairman of the executive committee of the Soviet district council, and deputy chairman of the Namangan Oblast Executive Committee. In 1980, he graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU and defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of economic sciences on the topic "Planning the Growth of Labor Productivity (Based on Industrial Materials)".

In 1984, Yuldashov became the first secretary of the Namangan City Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. From 1985 to 1987, he worked as an instructor in the department of organizational and party work of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Starting in 1987, he served as the second secretary of the Syrdarya obkom (regional committee) of the party, and from 1988, he became the first secretary of the Ferghana obkom. At the same time, from March 1990, he was the chairman of the Ferghana Oblast Council of People's Deputies.

In the spring of 1989, Yuldashov was elected a deputy of the USSR from the Margilan National-Territorial Electoral District No. 124 of the Uzbek SSR. In March 1990, he was elected chairman of the Ferghana Oblast Council, and in June, he became chairman of the Central Control and Revision Commission of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. He was a delegate of the 19th All-Union Party Conference and the 28th Congress of the CPSU.

On June 12, 1991, Yuldashov was secretly elected as the chairman of the Supreme Council of Uzbekistan (now known as the Oliy Majlis). In 1993, he was retired from his position.
