Born to real estate agent Twinkle Underwood and businessman Woody Buckner, Shelly Buckner's passion for the arts ignited from a young age. Despite attending an elite all-girls private school, she knew her destiny lay in the world of cinema.
Early Career: Modeling and Pageants
Shelly's initial journey began in the fashion industry as a model. She participated in local plays and commercials, showcasing her natural talent and captivating presence. She soared to success in the beauty pageant circuit, winning the title of "Miss Pre-Teen Dallas" and eventually landing a spot in the national IMTA competition for models, television, and video.
Breakthrough in Los Angeles
At the IMTA competition, Shelly's exceptional beauty and charisma caught the attention of her current manager, Susan Curtis. Recognizing her potential, Curtis encouraged Shelly to pursue her acting dreams in the entertainment capital of the world: Los Angeles.
At the tender age of twelve, Shelly secured her first role in the FOX pilot "The Untitled Ricky Blitt Pilot." While the project did not progress beyond the pilot stage, it sparked Shelly's determination to work hard. She balanced her studies in Dallas with frequent trips to L.A. for auditions.
Rise to Prominence
Shelly's career gained momentum in her mid-teens. She landed a guest-starring role in CBS's "Still Standing" and continued to hone her skills through modeling and commercial work. Her breakout moment came at the age of fifteen when she was cast as Amber Starr in Warner Bros.' hit teen drama series "Summerland."
Shelly's impressive resume also includes appearances in FOX's "Method & Red" (2004), Disney Channel's "That's So Raven," "Center of the Universe," and "16 and Over," as well as the film "Bring It On: All or Nothing" (2006).
