Biography of Shelley Catherine Hennig
Shelley Catherine Hennig was born on January 2, 1987, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended Destrehan High School, where she was recognized as an "Academic Excellence Student." Hennig is an experienced dancer and has won numerous awards in dance competitions. She is also a passionate writer, with two of her poems being published in the "Young Authors Poetry Collection."
Beauty Queen
Hennig won her first beauty pageant title, "Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2004," in November 2003, in Lafayette, Louisiana. This was her first participation in a state-level beauty pageant. In August, Hennig represented Louisiana in the "Miss Teen USA 2004" pageant in Palm Springs, California, and emerged as the winner. She became the first girl from Louisiana to win the national title since Ali Landry in 1996.
Success and Opportunities
As "Miss Teen USA," Hennig was awarded a one-year modeling contract with "Trump Modeling Management" and received a scholarship to study at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. She also had the opportunity to work with the "Miss Universe Organization." Alongside Jennifer Hawkins, Miss Universe from Australia, and Shandi Finnessey, Miss USA from Missouri, Hennig traveled to Bangkok, Thailand.
Acting and Advocacy
During her reign, Hennig appeared on television shows as a guest and had a role in the NBC soap opera "Passions." She also worked with non-profit organizations such as "Seeds of Peace," "Sparrow Clubs," and the D.A.R.E program. Hennig actively spoke out against underage drinking after the tragic death of her older brother in a car accident linked to alcohol consumption. She collaborated with the Louisiana-based non-profit organization "C.A.D.A" (Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse) to raise awareness about the consequences of alcohol and drug abuse among young people.
Continued Career
After passing on her crown, Hennig participated in the reality show "The Reality Show" on MTV, where she competed for the chance to create her own reality show called "After the Crown." In 2008, she co-hosted the "Miss Teen USA 2008" pageant alongside Seth Goldman. In April 2007, Hennig joined the cast of the long-running soap opera "Days of our Lives," portraying the character of Stephanie Johnson. She was nominated for a "Daytime Emmy" in 2010 in the category of "Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series."
