Sienna Rose Diana Miller was born on 28 December 1981, in New York City, to Edward Miller, a banker, and Josephine "Jo" Miller (née Stuckey), a former South African model. She has an older sister, Savannah, and two half-brothers, Charles and Stephen, from her father's previous marriage, as well as a stepbrother, Tanner. When Miller was six, her parents divorced, and she moved with her mother and sister to the United Kingdom. Her mother became David Bowie's personal assistant.
Miller was educated at Heathfield School, a boarding school in Ascot, Berkshire. Inspired by her mother, she began her career as a fashion model at age 18, working for brands such as Coca-Cola and Italian Vogue.
