Biography of Hailey Cole
Hailey Marie Cole was born on May 6, 1982, in Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada. She began her modeling career in 2000, according to Panache Management, the main modeling agency she worked with. However, her sister, Bridget Kohle, claimed that everything took off in 2002 after winning a local contest that prepared aspiring models.
Cole's career was thriving, as evidenced by the variety of cities and countries that wanted to collaborate with her. The Canadian model worked with prestigious international agencies in Canada, the United States, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Germany, and the United Kingdom. She had the opportunity to work in Toronto, New York, Athens, Istanbul, Milan, Hamburg, and London. Cole graced international runways for seven years until her untimely death in 2008.
Tragic Death
On October 11, 2008, Hailey was discovered dead in Italy. She died after falling from the balcony of a seventh-floor apartment in Milan. The police concluded that she was not pushed and that the model took her own life. She had spent just over a year in Italy, working under a contract with a modeling agency arranged through her main agency, Panache Management in Winnipeg. Hailey was only 26 years old.
Ugo Besozzi, the head of Milan-based agency Future Models, to which Cole had joined in January 2008, stated, "Our girls explained what happened. They all said the same thing. Hailey said she wanted to smoke a cigarette. She opened the window... and took that desperate step. There was no hint of tragedy, and no one could have done anything." Bridget Cole checked her sister's email and found nothing suspicious. Just a few days before the tragic events, Hailey sent a message expressing her joy about securing a major modeling contract.
Some considered Cole's death as one of the "series of tragedies" that occurred in the fashion industry at the time, alongside the suicides of Ambrose Olsen, Daul Kim, Ruslana Korshunova, and Lina Marulanda, as well as Noemie Lenoir's suicide attempt.
