Siim Kiisler
Early Life and EducationSiim Kiisler was born on October 8, 1968, in Tallinn, Estonia. In 1987, he graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 1. He continued his education at Tallinn Polytechnic Institute, graduating with a degree in Economics in 1989. In 1995, he earned a degree in Social Work from Tallinn University. Pursuing further education, Kiisler obtained a degree in Law in 2008 and a degree in Social Pedagogy in 2017, both from Tallinn University. He later enrolled in a Master's program in Social Pedagogy and Child Protection.
Political Career
Kiisler's political involvement began with the Estonian Liberal Democratic Party, where he was a member from 1990 to 1994. In 1994, he joined the Reform Party. Following the resignation of Arto Aas, Kiisler became a member of the XIV Riigikogu (Parliament), serving on the Demographic Crisis Resolution Committee and the Social Affairs Committee. On January 26, 2021, he was appointed as the Minister of Social Protection.
Professional Experience
Before entering politics, Kiisler worked as a technician at the "Estselhozproekt" State Design Institute from 1987 to 1990. He then served as a referent at the State Chancellery from 1990 to 1993. From 1993 to 2019, he held various positions within the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Personal Life
Kiisler has been married to Tiit Riisalo, the Director of the Office of the President, since 1999. They have a son and a daughter.
