Song Dong-il, a renowned South Korean actor, was born on April 27, 1967, in Incheon. Raised in a strict household, Song initially pursued engineering at Yuhang Technical College. However, his passion for entertainment led him to amateur theater and eventually professional theater at the age of 20. In 1991, at the age of 24, he successfully auditioned for a comedy series on SBS. For the next decade, Song took on various insignificant and humorous roles.

Song's first major film role was as Jang's assistant in the romantic drama "Cinderella's Glass Slippers" (2005). In 2006, he played a lead role in the musical comedy "200-Pound Beauty," which explored the complexities of beauty and its societal value. In 2015, Song starred in the retro drama "Reply 1988," portraying a poor office worker and loving father.
