Biography of Stanislav Nikolaenko

Stanislav Nikolaenko is a Ukrainian political and state figure, minister of education and science, and a doctor of pedagogical sciences in Ukraine (2005-2007). He is also the leader of the left-centrist party "Justice".

Early Life and Education

Born in Ukraine, Nikolaenko began his professional career as a laboratory assistant at the Kirovograd Agricultural Technical School from 1978 to 1979. He then attended the Pedagogical Faculty of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy as a student from 1979 to 1980. Nikolaenko worked as a teacher and secretary of the Komsomol Committee at the Kahovka Technical School from 1980 to 1982, and later served as the secretary of the Kahovka City Komsomol Committee from 1982 to 1985. In 1985, he became the director of the Krasnoperekopsk Agricultural Vocational School.

Political Career

Nikolaenko's political career began in 1987 when he became an instructor in the Science and Educational Institutions Department of the Kherson Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (KPU). From 1988 to 1990, he served as the first secretary of the Nizhneserogozsk District Committee of the KPU in the Kherson region, as well as the chairman of the Nizhneserogozsk District Council.

In 1991, Nikolaenko joined the Ukrainian Socialist Party (SPU) and became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament, for the second convocation. He served as the secretary of the Committee on Science and Public Education from 1994 to 1998. Nikolaenko was re-elected for the third convocation of the Verkhovna Rada from 1998 to 2002 and continued his role as the secretary of the Committee on Science and Education. He was then elected for the fourth convocation from 2002 to 2006 and became the head of the Committee on Science and Education.

From 2005 to 2007, Nikolaenko served as the Minister of Education and Science in the governments of Yulia Tymoshenko, Viktor Yanukovych, and Yuriy Yekhanurov. He continued his political career as a member of the Verkhovna Rada for the fifth convocation in 2006.

Current Position and Ideology

Since 2005, Nikolaenko has been the leader of the Public Council of Workers of Education and Science of Ukraine (Gronu). He holds a doctorate in pedagogical sciences and is a professor. In 2008, he co-authored the program "Fair Ukraine" and is a supporter of European socialism and social democracy.

In 2009, Nikolaenko left the Ukrainian Socialist Party due to disagreements with the party's leadership, particularly Alexander Moroz. On April 4, 2009, he accepted Ivan Chizh's offer to lead the left-centrist party "Justice". On April 15, 2009, he became the head of the political party "Justice".

In 2009, Nikolaenko became a member of the Bloc of Left and Left-Center Forces, which was created at the initiative of the leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Petro Symonenko. The bloc included the Communist Party of Ukraine, the "Justice" party, the "Union of Left Forces", and the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine.
