Star Jones Reynolds, born Starlet Marie Jones on March 24, 1962, in Badin, North Carolina, is an American lawyer, journalist, writer, television personality, and fashion designer. She grew up in Trenton, New Jersey, with her mother and stepfather. Jones graduated from Lawrenceville School and earned a bachelor's degree in Legal Communications from American University. In 1986, she earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987.

Jones started her career hosting her own legal television show, "Jones & Jury," in 1994, which lasted for one year. She then became the chief legal analyst for the show "Inside Edition," where she covered the O.J. Simpson murder trial. In 1997, Jones joined the original cast of the talk show "The View," where she remained for nine seasons, often generating controversy among viewers.

Struggling with obesity, Jones underwent gastric bypass surgery in August 2003, losing approximately 73 kilograms over the next three years. This led to criticism from viewers who felt deceived, as Jones initially attributed her weight loss to diet and exercise.
