Early Life and Education
Stef Wertheimer was born on July 16, 1926, in the small town of Kippenheim, Germany. In 1937, his family immigrated to Palestine and settled in Tel Aviv. Stef attended Tel Nordau School, where he completed his education at the age of 16. During this time, he also worked part-time in repair warehouses. Additionally, he pursued the study of optical systems under the guidance of Professor Emmanuel Goldberg.
Military Service and Career
In 1943, during World War II, Stef Wertheimer served in the Royal Air Force as an optical equipment repair technician. He was responsible for restoring optical equipment on aircraft. Throughout the war, Wertheimer rose to the rank of officer and participated in hazardous operations against the Nazi army. After the war, he worked on the military project called "Rafael" but was eventually laid off due to the lack of a higher education diploma.
In 1952, Stef Wertheimer founded a small factory called "ISCAR," specializing in the manufacturing of metal tools. Over time, the factory gained significant attention from investors who provided substantial support for its development. Today, "ISCAR" is one of the world's largest producers of industrial tools, with its products widely used in the automotive industry. Notably, factories such as General Motors and Ford prefer their products. The company has branches in over 50 countries and employs 6,000 people.
Political Involvement and Personal Life
Apart from his entrepreneurial ventures, Stef Wertheimer actively participates in the political life of Israel. He serves as the chairman of the centrist political party "Dash."
Currently, Stef Wertheimer is the head of a large family. He has four children, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. According to Forbes magazine, his net worth is estimated at $4.4 billion.
