Early Life and Football Career in Bulgaria
Born in Bulgaria, Georgi Asparuhov began his football career as an attacking midfielder for Levki Sofia in 1953. Over a span of 15 years, he played 254 matches in the Bulgarian Championship, scoring 37 goals. Additionally, he made 41 appearances in the Bulgarian Cup, scoring 8 goals.
Asparuhov's remarkable achievements with Levki Sofia include three Bulgarian Championship titles (1953, 1965, and 1968) and three Bulgarian Cup triumphs (1956, 1957, and 1959). He also made four appearances in the European Champions Cup, scoring one goal.
International Career
Asparuhov's talent earned him a place on the Bulgarian national football team. He represented his country in 27 international matches, scoring one goal. Asparuhov played a pivotal role in the team's qualification for the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
Emigration and Coaching Career
In 1969, Asparuhov emigrated to West Germany, where he briefly played for VfB Wiesbaden in the Bundesliga. Subsequently, he pursued a coaching career, graduating from the coaching school in Cologne. He went on to become a coach for Borussia Neunkirchen and Homburg.
