Marco Tonut: Italian Professional Basketball Player
Marco Tonut is an Italian professional basketball player currently playing for Reyer Venezia in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Standing at 1.94 m (6 ft 4 in), he plays the shooting guard and point guard positions.
Early Career
Tonut came through the youth ranks of Monfalcone and Pallacanestro Trieste before returning to Monfalcone, where he made his debut for the club's senior team in the Italian amateur third division during the 2010–11 season. Tonut later rejoined Pallacanestro Trieste, where he made his Serie A2 debut in the 2012–13 season. Over the next two seasons, he was the fourth-best scorer in the league and the top-rated Italian player in Serie A2, averaging 19.2 points per game.
Reyer Venezia
Tonut joined Reyer Venezia of the Italian professional top-flight LBA in July 2015. In his first season with the team, he appeared in 34 LBA games, averaging 2.8 points per outing. The 2015–16 season also saw him debut on the European club scene, competing in the second-tier EuroCup tournament with Venezia. In 2017 and 2019, Tonut won the LBA championship with Reyer. In the 2020–21 season, Tonut won the LBA Most Valuable Player award, averaging 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists.
International Career
Tonut made his debut for the Italian under-20 national basketball team during the 2013 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, scoring 10 points with 2 steals in a victory against the Lithuania under-20 team on July 9, 2013. In 2015, he made his official debut for the senior Italian national basketball team.
