Childhood and Adolescence
Born on May 15, 1977, in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), Stepan Menshchikov grew up in a modest, average-income family as the eldest of three children. His mother, Nadezhda Pavlovna, was a construction worker, and his father, Valery Vladimirovich, an engineer at the M. I. Kalinin Machine Building Plant. To support himself and pay for his education, Menshchikov's father often worked as a janitor.
Despite financial challenges, Menshchikov credits his upbringing with instilling strong values. His parents, although not overly strict, encouraged independence and fostered a democratic atmosphere in the household. As a child, Menshchikov discovered his passion for the arts, inspired by his mother's dream of seeing him become a dancer. However, a childhood dance class experience quickly dampened his enthusiasm, hindering his later attempts at studying dance professionally.
Creative Pursuits
After graduating high school in 1994, Menshchikov began pursuing his artistic aspirations. He joined the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Ural Military District and subsequently enrolled in the acting department of a university in Yekaterinburg.
Upon completing his university studies, Menshchikov served his mandatory military service and embarked on a journey of self-discovery. He briefly considered moving to London before settling in Moscow, where he explored various odd jobs, including a stint as a stripper, clown, and even a school vice principal.
"Dom-2" Fame
Menshchikov's path to stardom began on May 12, 2004, when he became one of the first participants in the reality TV show "Dom-2." With his charisma and sense of humor, he quickly became a fan favorite, earning comparisons to American comedian Jim Carrey.
Over the years, Menshchikov's romantic relationships on the show with prominent cast members such as Alena Vodonaeva and Victoria Bonya garnered significant attention, helping him establish his reputation as a charming bachelor. In 2009, he left the show to pursue other ventures.
Post-"Dom-2" Career
Following his departure from "Dom-2," Menshchikov continued to make appearances on television programs. In 2008, he featured as a hairstylist in the show "Stars Change Professions." From 2011 to 2012, he co-hosted the satirical talk show "Who Is Who?" with his fellow "Dom-2" alum Rustam Solntsev.
Menshchikov also pursued music and released several songs, including "Belaya Siren" and "Fysiruk." However, his cinematic career was limited, with brief appearances in the TV series "Kriminalnaya Rossiya" and the sitcom "Schastlivy Vmeste."
Personal Life
Menshchikov has remained in the spotlight due to his personal relationships. He was married to Evgenia Shamaeva, with whom he has a son and a daughter. In 2018, after discovering he was not the biological father of his son, Menshchikov divorced Shamaeva.
In late 2019, he met Angelina Monakh, who became pregnant within a month of their relationship. They married in July 2020 and welcomed a daughter in August of the same year. Despite initial doubts about the paternity of his daughter, a DNA test on the show "Na Samom Dele" confirmed that Menshchikov is indeed her father.
Present Day
Menshchikov continues to thrive in the event industry, often headlining corporate events. He has also returned to "Dom-2" as one of its hosts, following Olga Orlova's departure on maternity leave.
Known for his youthful appearance, despite his age, Menshchikov is a fitness enthusiast and an avid sportsman. He is also an active social media user, regularly sharing updates with his followers.
