Early Career
Born and raised in Liverpool, Darby honed his skills as a right-back in the youth ranks of his hometown club, Liverpool. In 2006, he captained Liverpool's U18 squad to victory in the FA Youth Cup.
Liverpool Career
Darby made his senior debut for Liverpool in December 2008, starting in a UEFA Champions League group stage match against PSV Eindhoven. Despite limited opportunities in the first team, he remained on Liverpool's books until 2012.
Bradford City
In 2012, Darby joined Bradford City on a free transfer. He quickly established himself as a regular starter for the Bantams, playing a pivotal role in their promotion to League One in 2013.
