Early CareerThomas Kahlenberg, a Danish footballer, began his career at the age of 15 when he joined Brøndby IF from his previous club, Vidar. His exceptional talent was quickly recognized, and he soon became a member of Brøndby's youth and senior teams.
Debut for Brøndby IF
Kahlenberg's debut for Brøndby IF came on May 12, 2002, against their arch-rivals FC Copenhagen. The match, a 1-1 draw, played a crucial role in securing Brøndby's position in the league.
Breakthrough and International Debut
Over the next few years, Kahlenberg established himself as a central midfielder for Brøndby. In September 2002, he made his debut for the Danish under-21 national team. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the senior national team in April 2003.
Position Change and Goal-Scoring Success
In the 2004-05 season, Kahlenberg transitioned to the position of left midfielder. This shift proved highly effective, as he became Brøndby's top scorer with 13 goals.
Transfer to France
In July 2005, Kahlenberg's exceptional talent attracted the attention of French club AJ Auxerre. Brøndby agreed to sell him, and he signed a four-year contract with Auxerre.
Move to Wolfsburg
On May 28, 2009, Kahlenberg signed a four-year contract with German club Wolfsburg for a reported fee of €4 million per season.
International Success
Kahlenberg continued to represent Denmark at the under-21 level until May 2006, when he was selected for the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. After the tournament, he amassed 26 caps and 10 goals for the under-21 team. He also played a significant role in Denmark's qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, scoring the winning goal against Sweden.
