Early Life and EducationStephen Altus was born in Syracuse, New York. From a young age, he showed a passion for space exploration. He pursued his dreams by earning his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He later obtained a Master of Science degree in Technology and Policy from MIT.

Engineering Career
After graduating, Altus began his career at Orbital Sciences, where he worked as a rocket scientist. His contributions to the development of the Pegasus air-launched rocket earned him the prestigious National Medal of Technology from President George H. W. Bush in 1991. His master's thesis on spacecraft design was the first-ever student thesis to be reviewed in The New York Review of Books.
Unconventional Adventures
