Biography of Steve Lee
Steve Lee, whose full name is Stefan Alois Lee, was a Swiss rock musician and the vocalist of the band 'Gotthard'. He was born in 1963 in Zurich, Switzerland. His father was British and his mother was Swiss. Since childhood, he dreamed of becoming a rock musician and considered himself the best drummer in the world at the age of 11 or 12. He even mowed several neighbors' lawns to save money for his first drum set.
Formation of Gotthard
By the time 'Gotthard' was formed, Steve had already tried his hand in various bands and studios. The band was formed in Lugano in the late 80s, with Steve and Leo Leoni at its core. In the early 90s, the band gained recognition for their hard rock style and was joined by Marc Lynn, Hena Habegger, and later Krokus Chris von Rohr. The band's success was largely attributed to Steve's contributions.
Tragic Death
Unfortunately, in May 2010, Steve, aged 47, became a victim of a car accident in California, which shocked his countless fans. Ironically, during the same time, Steve was fulfilling his lifelong dream of a road trip across the United States on his Harley Davidson. The group of 12 motorcycles, consisting of 21 people, started their journey in Los Angeles, passing through Death Valley and Las Vegas. They planned to stop in St. George, Utah, and visit Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Monument Valley. Steve had planned to buy national indigenous jewelry as a gift for his longtime partner, Brigitte Voss-Balzarini, in Monument Valley. Sadly, on the highway between Mesquite, Nevada, and Las Vegas, Steve's motorcycle was hit by a truck. Several motorcyclists were injured, but Steve was the only fatality. His death was mourned by the music industry, with 'Nuclear Blast Records' describing him as one of the greatest rock performers.

Steve Lee is remembered not only as a talented rocker but also as a cheerful and sociable person, attentive to details and genuinely interesting. From the few interviews he gave during his lifetime, it is evident that he truly enjoyed life. He loved speed and his Harley, appreciated good food (particularly Italian and Chinese cuisine), and enjoyed 'Jack Daniels' whiskey. He was grateful to his parents for supporting his choice to pursue a career in music. His dream was to remain on stage for his entire life. He loved his home and friends, and his life motto was to live each day as if it were his last.
