Hockey Career
Stephen Plouffe is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He began his career in the Central Hockey League with the Fort Worth Fire. As a member of the Fire, Plouffe led the league with 38 victories and was part of the 1996-97 team that won the CHL championship.
In the following season, Plouffe played as the starting goaltender for the Johnstown Chiefs. During his time with the Chiefs, Plouffe won 11 games in 44 matches and set an ECHL record for the longest winless streak with 11 games without a victory. Although the record has since been broken, Plouffe's achievement was significant at the time.
Time in Russia
Plouffe spent three seasons playing in the Russian Superleague. He first joined the Amur Khabarovsk team from 1999 to 2001. Afterward, Plouffe returned to Russia in 2002 and played 40 games for the Moscow Spartak team. His time in Russia allowed him to experience a different hockey culture and expand his skills on the ice.
Return to Canada
After his Russian stint, Plouffe returned to Canada to play in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) for three seasons. He joined the Sorel Royaux team in the 2003-04 season. However, after the season, the Royaux team folded. Fortunately, the Saint-Jean Mission relocated from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Sorel, allowing Plouffe to remain with the newly named Sorel-Tracy Mission from 2004 to 2006 to conclude his career.
Throughout his extensive career, Stephen Plouffe showcased his goaltending skills and contributed to various teams both in North America and Russia. His achievements and records highlight his talent and dedication to the sport of ice hockey.
