Early Life and Club Career

Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Josip Kalina began his football career in 1918 with the Zagreb club HASK. In 1926, he joined another Zagreb club, Concordia, where he played until his retirement in 1935. With Concordia, Kalina achieved remarkable success, winning two Yugoslav championships and one second-place finish.

International Career

Kalina established himself as a formidable defender for the national teams of Zagreb and Yugoslavia. He made his debut for the Zagreb team, playing 16 matches.

For the Yugoslav national team, Kalina debuted in 1922 and became an integral part of the team. He earned 12 caps for Yugoslavia, including appearances in the 1924 Summer Olympics and an historic victory over Poland in 1923.
