Early Life and Education
Birth and EducationThe former Armenian parliamentarian was born in 1958. He graduated from the Leninakan branch of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1981, earning a degree in civil engineering. In 2004, he completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Management and Economic Reforms under the Armenian government.
Professional Career
Engineering and AcademiaFrom 1981 to 1982 and again from 1984 to 1989, he held various positions in the Leninakan branch of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, including secretary of the Komsomol committee and head of the Leninakan City Komsomol Organizational Department. In 1990-1991, he worked as a surveyor engineer for the "Shirakstroy" trust.
Public Service
From 1991 to 1993, he served as Chief Engineer of the Housing Management Department of the Executive Committee of the Moscow District Council of Gyumri. In 1994-1996, he was Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Gyumri City Council and Head of the Housing and Utilities Management Department. From 1996 to 1999, he was Deputy Mayor of Gyumri.
Political Career
Early Parliamentary ExperienceIn 1995, he was elected to the Armenian Parliament as a member of the "Reforms" and later the "Yerkrapah" parliamentary groups. He served from 1995 to 1999.
Parliamentary Tenure
From 1999 to 2003, he continued as a member of Parliament, serving on the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and as a member of the "Unity" faction. From 2003 to 2007, he was re-elected and served on the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, and Youth. In 2004, he transitioned to the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Healthcare, and Nature Protection. He was a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Later Parliamentary Terms
On May 13, 2008, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly under the proportional electoral system representing the RPA. He remained a member of the RPA throughout his political career.
Other Activities
Sports and AcademicsBeyond his political and professional pursuits, he has been involved in sports and academia. From 2000, he served as Vice President of the Shirak Region Table Tennis Federation. In 2001, he became a member of the Armenian Association of Mini-Football and an academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Society (MANPO). From 2003, he served as President of the Shirak Region Mini-Football Federation.
