Sven Delanoy: A Belgian Football Journey

Early Career and Willem II

Born and raised in Belgium, Sven Delanoy began his footballing endeavors at a local youth club, Vrey Arendonk. His talent caught the attention of Dutch club Willem II, where he progressed through their academy ranks before breaking into the first team in 2003. He made his Eredivisie debut in a disappointing 6-0 loss to Ajax. Despite limited opportunities in two subsequent seasons, Delanoy made a strong impression with 5 goals in 25 matches for Willem II.

Move to Rosendaal and Success

In July 2006, Delanoy moved to Rosendaal in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. He made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut and establishing himself as a regular starter. In his first season, he netted 7 goals in 36 appearances, helping Rosendaal finish third in the league.

Transition to Right Wing and Contract Concerns

The following season, Delanoy switched to the position of right wing, where he continued to impress. Despite his team's 11th-place finish, Delanoy scored a respectable 2 goals in 37 matches. In 2009, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the club's lack of contract extension talks, sparking interest from both Belgian and Dutch clubs.

New Chapter at Dordrecht

In mid-May, Delanoy joined Dordrecht on a two-year contract. He continued to ply his trade in the Eerste Divisie, where he once again showcased his versatility and skill.

Return to Belgium and Later Career

After his time at Dordrecht, Delanoy returned to his native Belgium, playing for Turnhout, Sint-Niklaas, and Deinze. In 2023, he signed for Temse, where he currently plays as a defender.
