Formation and Early Years
In the spring of 2004, a classical quartet was formed at the P. I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv. The quartet, initially known as "Imperiya," consisted solely of string instruments.
Evolution and New Name
In 2005, drummer Viktoria Milevskaya and keyboardist Olga Aydinova joined the group. This expanded instrumentation marked a turning point in the quartet's sound, leading to a genre shift towards symphonic rock and neoclassical. In late 2008, the ensemble adopted the name Symfomania.
Debut Album and Tribute to Aria
In 2009, Symfomania released their debut album, "Empire," which showcased their original compositions and arrangements of classical and popular tunes. Additionally, the band recorded a tribute album to Russian rock group Aria, exploring new musical territory.
Lineup Changes and Return to the Original
Family circumstances prompted Maria Brodova and Valentina Bugrak to take maternity leave in 2009. This led to the return of original members Marina Losytska and Irina Shkulka. However, Brodova and Bugrak later rejoined the band, resulting in a modified lineup.
Live Performances and Notable Events
Throughout its history, Symfomania has performed at numerous prestigious events and festivals, including the opening ceremony of Eurovision 2005 in Kyiv, the Tavriyskye Igry festival, and award ceremonies for various industries. The band has also embarked on several solo tours both in Ukraine and internationally.
