Early Life and Education
Tadeusz Fiszbach was born on November 4, 1935, in Dobroczyn, Poland (some sources state Sokal). His father was a mechanic. After World War II, his family relocated to Kartuzy, Pomerania, near Gdańsk.
In 1957, Fiszbach graduated from the Agricultural University in Olsztyn with a degree in dairy technology engineering. He subsequently worked in the dairy industry, rising through the ranks.
Political Career Within the Polish United Workers' Party (PUWP)
Fiszbach joined the PUWP and pursued further education. He earned a master's degree in economics from the Central School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw and a Ph.D. in technical sciences from the High School of Social Sciences at the CC PUWP.
From 1971 to 1975, he served as Secretary of the Gdańsk Voivodeship Committee of the PUWP. From 1975 to 1982, he was First Secretary of the Gdańsk (Pomerania) Voivodeship Committee of the PUWP.
In 1980, he was elected a candidate member of the Politburo of the PUWP. However, he was removed from his party post during the martial law period for supporting the demands of the Gdańsk workers.
Diplomatic Career
Following his removal from the PUWP, Fiszbach served as Poland's trade representative in Finland from 1982 to 1986. From 1987 to 1989, he was an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Polish People's Republic.
In June 1989, he became Vice-Marshal of the Sejm (Polish parliament) of the Polish People's Republic.
Founding of the Social Democratic Union of the Republic of Poland (SdURP)
On January 27, 1990, Fiszbach founded the SdURP, which emerged from the dissolution of the PUWP.
Post-Parliamentary Career
After completing his parliamentary career, Fiszbach worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. He held the post of Trade Advisor in Oslo, Norway.
Ambassador to Latvia
From August 2001 to August 2005, Fiszbach served as Poland's Ambassador to Latvia. He actively supported Latvia's accession to the European Union.
