Early Life and Education
Born in Cieszyn, Poland, in 1951, Tadeusz Kusy received his secondary education before joining the Franciscan Order on August 30, 1970. He made his final vows on August 26, 1974. Kusy then studied theology at the Franciscan Higher Seminary in Katowice and was ordained a priest by Bishop Herbert Bednorz of Katowice on April 15, 1976.
Pastoral Ministry and Mission Work
After his ordination, Kusy served in the parish of Panewniki in Katowice until 1979. From 1979 to 1986, he embarked on a mission in Zaire. Upon his return, Kusy pursued further theological studies at the Institute of Science and Theology of Religion in Paris from 1986 to 1989, earning a licentiate in theology. He was then sent on a mission to the Central African Republic.
Episcopal Appointment
On May 31, 2014, Pope Francis appointed Kusy as the auxiliary bishop of Kaga-Bandoro. His episcopal consecration took place on August 15, 2014, presided over by Archbishop Dieudonné Nzapalainga of Bangui, with Bishop Albert Vanbuel of Kaga-Bandoro and Bishop Stanislas Lukumwena Lumbala of Kole as co-consecrators.
Bishop of Kaga-Bandoro
On September 27, 2015, Kusy was appointed the third bishop of Kaga-Bandoro. He has continued to serve in this role, overseeing the spiritual well-being of the diocese.
