Early Beginnings and Rise in Brazil
Born in Pelotas, Brazil, Tyson's footballing journey began at the tender age of 14 when he joined Gremio Brazil's academy. However, his stay was short-lived, as he was soon scouted by Internacional, one of Brazil's top clubs.
Tyson joined Internacional's youth academy and quickly impressed. He made his debut for the youth team in 2006-2007 and broke into the senior squad in 2008. In the 2009 Rio Grande do Sul State Championship, Tyson emerged as a key player, forming a deadly attacking trio with Nilmar and Alexandro. He not only contributed goals but also showcased his attacking prowess as a midfielder, becoming the league's top scorer with 15 goals.
Stint in Ukraine
In August 2010, Tyson made the move to Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv for a transfer fee of $6 million. He made an immediate impact, scoring a memorable goal against Shakhtar Donetsk, which was hailed as one of the best in the league that season.
Tyson's fiery temper and on-field antics were a constant source of controversy. In a match against Sampdoria in October 2010, he received a red card for a retaliatory gesture but not before scoring a goal. Rumors of interest from Chelsea emerged after the game, but they proved to be unfounded.
European Breakthrough
On February 16, 2012, Tyson etched his name in the history books when he scored one of the fastest goals in European competition, finding the net just 19 seconds into Metalist's Europa League match against Red Bull Salzburg.
Return to Brazil and National Team
In 2013, Tyson returned to Brazil, joining Corinthians. He won the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A in 2015 and was a key member of the Brazilian national team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Move to China and MLS
After a successful spell at Corinthians, Tyson moved to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande in 2018. He spent two seasons there before making a move to the MLS with the Colorado Rapids in 2020.
