Reverend and Politician: A Life Dedicated to Service
Early Life and EducationArmenian political figure and clergyman, the subject of this biography, pursued his studies at the Philological Faculty of Yerevan State University from 1972 to 1977. During the years 1974-1979, he worked at the Yerevan Aluminum Plant, balancing his secular and spiritual pursuits. In 1979, he entered the Spiritual Seminary in Etchmiadzin, marking the beginning of his journey into the clergy.
Ordination and Pastoral Work
After graduating from seminary in 1981, he was ordained as a priest and served as a teacher and later secretary at the Etchmiadzin Spiritual Seminary until 1987. He then took up a pastoral role at the Church of Saint Marina from 1987 to 1992, ministering to the spiritual needs of the community.
Political Involvement
In 1992, he became Chairman of the Board of the Armenian National Movement (ANM). His political involvement continued with his election as a member of Parliament from 1995 to 1999, serving as a member of the ANM. Throughout his political career, he dedicated himself to improving the lives of his fellow citizens.
Untimely Passing
Tragically, his life was cut short on February 19, 2015, when he succumbed to a sudden myocardial infarction. His untimely passing was mourned by family, friends, and the broader community he had served with such dedication. His legacy as an ardent defender of human rights and a compassionate spiritual leader continues to inspire those who knew him.
