Biography of Tim Daly

Tim Daly, an actor, television host, announcer, director, and producer, was born on March 1, 1958, in New York, USA. He spent his childhood in bustling New York City, with roots that trace back to Ireland. He is the youngest child of actress Hope Newell and actor James Daly. Tim also has an older sister, actress Tyne Daly, and is related to renowned composer Mark Snow and popular television host John Charles Daly. He has two other sisters, Mary Glen and Peggy Michelle. Tim completed his education at the Patney School.

Introduction to Acting and Career

Despite initially aspiring to become a doctor, lawyer, or athlete, Tim eventually chose a career in acting. He began his professional acting career while studying at Bennington College in Vermont, where he actively pursued theater and literature. He was a diligent student, and many of his teachers recognized his numerous talents, though harnessing them required hard work and dedication. In 1979, Tim graduated from college and returned to his hometown of New York, where he continued to study acting and pursued vocal training.

Tim Daly made his debut on the big stage at the young age of seven in a small production of "Jenny Kissed Me" by Jean Kerr. His parents and sisters also participated in the production, alongside guest stars Sharon Loglin and John Irving. When he turned ten, he appeared in the film "An Enemy of the People," alongside many popular Hollywood stars, including his father, James Daly. His first major role came in Barry Levinson's film "Diner," starring Mickey Rourke and Kevin Bacon. He went on to star in films such as "The Rise & Rise of Daniel Rocket," "Made in Heaven," "Almost Grown," and "Spellbinder."
