Timo Maas was born and raised in Hanover, Germany. His passion for music ignited at an early age when he began experimenting with turntables at the tender age of thirteen, entertaining friends at house parties.
The Tunnel Era
Maas's talent and determination led him to become a resident DJ at Tunnel, a renowned club in Hamburg. This residency proved to be a catalyst for his career, providing him with the platform to showcase his skills and collaborate with another Tunnel resident, Gary D.
Breakthrough with "Die Herdplatte"
The duo's "aggressive trance" hit "Die Herdplatte" gained widespread recognition, not only in Germany but also in the UK. This success brought Maas to the attention of Hope Recordings, a Bristol-based label with which he maintains a close collaboration to this day.
The "Mama Konda" Phenomenon
In 1997, Maas's career reached new heights with his remix of "Mama Konda" (Orinoko). The remix became an instant sensation, topping DJ charts in the UK and the US and becoming a staple in the playlists of renowned DJs worldwide. The release of "Mama Konda" catapulted Maas's DJ career, landing him gigs at the most prestigious clubs across Europe.

Like many contemporary DJs of his caliber, Timo Maas is an avid globetrotter who has performed at some of the most iconic dance music venues in the world, including Love Parade in Berlin, Turnmills in London, and Karma in Chicago.
