Biography of Todd English

Todd English is a popular chef in the United States, as well as an entrepreneur and TV star. He was born on August 29, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas, and grew up in Georgia. His mother was of Italian-American descent, while his father was of English origin.

Todd initially attended college in North Carolina, where he excelled not only in academics but also in basketball. However, he later decided to pursue a different path and enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America, which he successfully completed at the age of twenty.

After graduating, Todd worked in various establishments in New York before heading to Italy to work and study the restaurant business. When he turned twenty-five, he returned to the United States and immediately took on the position of head chef at the Italian restaurant Michela's in Cambridge, where he worked for three years.

In 1989, Todd opened his own restaurant, Olives, which he named after his wife Olivia. Todd's culinary skills and expertise soon made his restaurant extremely popular. Olives was recognized as one of the leading establishments and received several awards, including being named one of the Best New Restaurants by Boston magazine.

Ten years later, Todd English, along with James Cafarelli, founded The Olive Group, a company dedicated to creating new restaurants. Todd also collaborated with American actress Eva Longoria to open the Mexican restaurant Beso in Hollywood, and they continue to work together to this day.

In addition to his restaurant ventures, Todd has also been involved in various television projects related to cooking. He gained even more popularity when he appeared in the final competition of the third season of the program Top Chef, where he competed against two renowned chefs.

Todd English has been married only once, to Olivia English. The couple has three children together - Oliver, Isabella, and Simone. Although Todd and Olivia are currently divorced, they maintain a friendly relationship. Their eldest son, Oliver, attends the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
