Early Life and Education
Born on January 25, 1944, Joschka Fischer pursued Business Administration at the Free University of Berlin, later teaching Political Economy and Economics at the same institution.
Literary and Work Experience
Prior to entering politics, Fischer delved into literary endeavors, translating Latin American fiction. He also worked as a bookseller, taxi driver, electronics repair technician, and welder.
Political Career
Fischer's political journey commenced in 1983 when he joined the parliamentary group of the Green Party in the Hessian state parliament. He served on the Frankfurt City Council, leading the Department of Environmental Protection and holding the roles of City Treasurer and Deputy Mayor.
International Service
From 1999 to 2005, Fischer held significant positions within the United Nations. He served as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Kosovo and subsequently as Head of the UN Mission in Guatemala.
Foreign Minister of Germany
On January 1, 2005, then-Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer of Germany appointed Fischer as the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid.
