Tomáš Čížek is a Czech midfielder currently playing for FC Alania Vladikavkaz in Russia's First Division.
Early Career
Čížek began his professional career in his native Czech Republic, playing for FK Jablonec 97 and AC Sparta Prague. With Sparta, he made an appearance in the 2002/2003 UEFA Champions League.
Russian Adventure
In the 2002/2003 season, five Sparta players, including Čížek, transferred to FC Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League. Kazan won the bronze medal in Čížek's debut season, with the Czech players playing a significant role. Čížek spent three seasons with Rubin before joining FC Moscow in 2005.
Return to Czech Republic
After his Moscow contract expired in 2008, Čížek moved back to Czech Republic, signing with FK Baumit Jablonec. In the Czech league, he scored a goal in each of his two appearances.
Back to Russia
In early 2009, Čížek returned to Russia to join FC Alania Vladikavkaz in the First Division. The Baumit president agreed not to obstruct Čížek's departure if a good offer came from abroad.
