Early Career

Tomislav Ivković began his professional football career in 1978 with Dinamo Zagreb. In 1982, he moved to Dinamo Vinkovci, and in 1983, he joined Red Star Belgrade.

International Career

Ivković represented Yugoslavia at the 1984 European Championship, the 1984 Summer Olympics (where he won a bronze medal), and the 1990 FIFA World Cup. In the 1990 World Cup quarter-final against Argentina, Ivković famously saved a penalty kick taken by Diego Maradona.

Club Career Abroad

In 1985, Ivković moved to Tirol Innsbruck in Austria. He later played for Wiener Sportklub, Genk, and Sporting CP in Portugal. He also spent time with Estoril, Vitória Setúbal, Belenenses, and Estrela da Amadora in Portugal, and had a brief spell with Salamanca in Spain.

Coaching Career

From 2004 to 2006, Ivković served as goalkeeper coach for the Croatia national team. After Croatia's disappointing performance at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, he was replaced by Marijan Mrmić. Ivković subsequently became assistant coach at Al-Shaab in the United Arab Emirates.
