Vanilla Ninja
Vanilla Ninja is an Estonian musical group that represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Rändajad". The band finished in 6th place, receiving 129 points. Band member Miriam Mäek experienced Eurovision before; she performed as a backing vocalist for Gerli Padar, the Estonian representative at the 2007 contest held in Helsinki. Marilyn Kongo placed eighth in the Eurovision 2006 semi-finals with Vanilla Ninja.
Eurovision 2009
Ten candidates participated in the Estonian selection process. The song "Rändajad" ("Wanderers" in English) received 82% of the votes from a combination of the international jury and public vote and was then selected to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. In the final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest on May 16, 2009, the group placed sixth with 129 final points.
Awards
In 2010, Vanilla Ninja received the "Artist of the Year in the Internet" award at the Estonian Pop Music Awards.
