Birth and Early Life
Uzeir Abduramanovich Abduramanov was born on March 12 (25), 1916, in the village of Kashik-Degirmend (present-day Novoandreyevka), Symferopol district, Taurida province. Other sources indicate that he was born in the neighboring village of Dzhaga-Mamysh (now Sukhorechye).
Pre-War Life
After graduating from a vocational school in 1933, Abduramanov worked as a chef and later as the deputy chairman of a horse-drawn transport artel in Symferopol.
Military Service
Abduramanov was drafted into the Red Army in 1939. He served on the Eastern Front of World War II from 1941, where he participated in the Battle of Stalingrad.
Heroic Exploits
In September 1943, Senior Uzeir Abduramanov's detachment successfully established a crossing over the Sozh River near the village of Novye Tereshkovichi. Out of 17 soldiers, only three survived. He had previously distinguished himself during the crossing of the Desna River.
Hero of the Soviet Union
On January 15, 1944, Abduramanov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his exceptional bravery and heroism in combat.
Deportation and Post-War Life
On May 18, 1944, the Crimean Tatars were deported, including Abduramanov's family. After the war, he was discharged from the army and exiled to the Uzbek SSR.
Settlement in Uzbekistan
Despite the opportunity to return to his homeland, Abduramanov chose to remain in Uzbekistan, where he lived in Navoi until his death in 1992.
