Early Life and Education

Born in Ukraine, the renowned metallurgist graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute in 1960. He went on to earn his PhD in technical sciences in 1988.

Career and Academic Achievements

Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy

Joining the renowned Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy in 1960, he rapidly ascended the ranks, becoming a senior researcher in 1969 and head of the Department of Technological Equipment and Control Systems in 1993. In 1996, he took on the directorship of the institute, a position he held until his passing.

National and International Recognition

Elected as a full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2009, he also held memberships in the Engineering Academy of Ukraine and the International Engineering Academy.

Scientific Contributions

With over 540 scientific publications to his credit, including monographs, brochures, and patents, his research focused on metallurgy and engineering. He made significant contributions to the understanding of metallurgical machine dynamics, blast furnace technology, and equipment and automation systems.

His work on the dynamics of rolling mills and the development of theoretical foundations for load control and distribution in blast furnaces were particularly groundbreaking. He guided the commissioning and scientific support of some of the world's largest blast furnaces.

Industry Leadership

Under his leadership, new equipment for large-volume blast furnaces was designed and implemented, including conveyor-type material feeders and conical charging devices. He also contributed to advancements in automated diagnostics systems for metallurgical equipment.

Awards and Honors

In recognition of his scientific achievements and contributions to the field of metallurgy, he received prestigious awards, including:

- Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (1988)

- State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2000)

- Honored Engineer of Russia (2000)
