Biography of Vadim Rotenberg
Vadim Rotenberg is a Russian-Israeli psychophysiologist, doctor of medical sciences, and senior lecturer at Tel Aviv University. He graduated from the 1st Moscow Medical Institute in 1964 and earned his doctorate in medical sciences in 1979. Since 1990, he has been living in Israel.
Expertise and Contributions
Vadim Rotenberg is a specialist in the field of sleep psychophysiology, memory psychophysiology, creativity psychophysiology, pathogenesis of neuroses, schizophrenia, and depression. He is the co-creator (in collaboration with V.V. Arshavsky) of an interdisciplinary concept called search activity, which provides an original explanation for various cognitive processes.
Publications
Vadim Rotenberg is the author of several monographs, including "Adaptive Function of Sleep: Causes and Manifestations of Its Disorders" (1982), "Search Activity and Adaptation" (1984, co-authored with V.V. Arshavsky), "Self-Image and Behavior" (2000), and "Dreams, Hypnosis, and Brain Activity" (2001). He has also published a book for teachers titled "Brain. Education. Health" (1989, co-authored with S.M. Bondarenko). In addition to his scientific works, Vadim Rotenberg has published a collection of poems titled "Poems of the 1960s" (Moscow: ARGORISK, 1996) and writes publicist articles such as "Why do Jews Need Israel, or Antisemitism as a Problem of Cognitive Dissonance" and "Psychophysiology of Political Leftism."
